Methodology & sources

This directory started from a viral post about subscriptions that quietly offer a discount when you try to cancel. Since then it's grown through reader submissions and cross-checking against public reporting. Our goal is a list you can actually trust, so we're upfront about what we know and how confident we are.

What the confidence dots mean

  • Well documented: the offer is consistent and reported across many sources. You're very likely to see it.
  • Commonly reported: frequently seen, but the exact amount varies by account, tenure and timing.
  • Reported / varies: anecdotal and inconsistent. Worth a try, but set your expectations accordingly.

The honest disclaimer

Retention offers are not guaranteed. They change constantly and are personalised: a long-tenured account in good standing tends to get better deals than a brand-new one, and offers differ by region, plan tier and the time of year. Prices listed are approximate and may be out of date. Always read any offer carefully before you accept, and never cancel a service you actually depend on just to chase a discount.
